Fluor-BWXT Community Commitment Plan Dashboard (April 2016)

PIKE COUNTY, Ohio – April 19, 2016 – Attached is the latest update of quarterly dashboard which summarizes some of the community outreach efforts of Fluor-BWXT Portsmouth, the US Dept. of Energy and the other companies at the DOE Portsmouth Site in Piketon. As you know, we maintain a Community Commitment Plan to support our surrounding communities. Since our last update in January, the D&D Project has procured an additional $21M on goods and services from local suppliers.  In March, the Department of Energy hosted their 4th regional Science Bowl at Shawnee State University.  This education competition attracted 185 high school students and required 60 volunteers during the day-long competition.  In the end, Notre Dame High School took top honors beating out 37 other teams.   Also in March the DOE site public tour program resumed.  DOE offers tours of the former Gaseous Diffusion Plant on the 3rd Saturday of each month.  You must be over 18 and a US Citizen participate.  Contact Sandy Childers at  (740) 947-5558 if you’d like more information.

We hope you find this information helpful in understanding Fluor-BWXT’s ongoing commitment to the betterment of our communities.
