Fluor-BWXT Receives Award from Pike County Chamber of Commerce

PIKE COUNTY, Ohio -- January 27, 2020 -- Fluor-BWXT was recognized for “Excellence in Economic Development” at the Pike County Chamber of Commerce annual banquet on Thursday, January 23rd at the Vern Riffe Career Technology Center.

Jeff Pinkerton, Deneen Garner, Bob Smith, Tim Poe, Pam Hensley and Jack Williams were on hand for a group photo after the ceremony.

Judge Paul Price, chamber board member and emcee for the evening, presented the award to Bob Smith. “This award is in recognition of their strong economic presence in the four-county region; for their contribution to business development; in honor of their past successes; current partnerships and future opportunities that position Pike County and Southern Ohio for prosperity and growth.”

“There are some great things taking place in Pike County and all of southern Ohio and Fluor-BWXT is proud to have a role in that,” said Bob Smith, FBP Site Project Director who also recognized Tim Poe and the Joint Economic Development Initiative of Southern Ohio (JEDISO) representatives in attendance.  Poe, Director of Nuclear Operations, chairs the FBP steering group which works closely with JEDISO to identify economic development opportunities in Jackson, Pike, Ross and Scioto Counties.

FBP has invested more than $4 Million through JEDISO since 2011 which has been able to match those funds to more than $100 Million in state and federal grants to create and retrain nearly 1,400 jobs locally.

Recent FBP development projects include Douglas Industries of Chillicothe, the Portsmouth Regional Airport in Minford, Pike County Regional Airport, environmental remediation of the old Meridian Automotive site in Jackson and upgrades to the municipal water supply in the Village of Piketon.
