Fluor-BWXT Community Commitment Plan Dashboard (October 2017)

PIKE COUNTY, Ohio – October 17, 2017 – Attached is our latest update to the PORTS Community Commitment DASHBOARD.  Throughout September Fluor-BWXT held our annual Employee Giving Campaign.  As usual PORTS site workers stepped up and raised $177,352 through fundraisers, pledge cards and a generous match from the Fluor Foundation.  We will make a formal presentation to the distributing agencies in November.

Since the beginning of the DOE Deactivation and Decommissioning (D&D) contract in 2011 Fluor-BWXT and ch2m have reinvested $3.9M in performance fee back into the community.  This money has been used to provide job-creating business opportunity grants as well as supporting education programs and basic services throughout the four-county region.

The first week of October DOE hosted their 8th annual Science Alliance for high school juniors.  This year students from Adams County also joined their counterparts from Pike, Scioto, Ross and Jackson counties by taking part in this three-day event.  More than 1,700 students and teachers from 31 area high schools participated in what is a great opportunity to hear about STEM related careers that are part of the D&D Project.  Students also had a chance to speak to representatives from seven area colleges and universities as well as subcontractor HR representatives.  It was once again an incredibly fun event that captured the interest of students and hopefully sparked more discussion at school and at home.  We are pleased to support the initiatives championed by the DOE.

On behalf of our team and partner companies Fluor, BWXT and ch2M I’m glad to share this update of our educational and community giving programs.

Thank you,
Dennis Carr
